CLIA (Cross Lingual Information Access)
The CLIA (Cross Lingual Information Access) Project is a mission mode project to be executed by a consortium of academic and research institutions and industry partners.Cross-Language Information Access enables a user to enter a query in a language in which he is fluent, and read documents from the web, that are written in a different language.
The main purpose of the system is that a query entered in one Indian language (IL), (source language)1 is converted to English and Hindi, and searches and retrieve documents in English and Hindi, and the source language, and also translates and displays the English and Hindi documents in the source language. In addition, it also provides an advanced search system which uses Universal Networking Language (UNL) as a language independent intermediate representation to enable concept based retrieval of documents across languages.
