Sight Seeing and Places of interest:

Bhubaneswar is the capital city of the modern Orissa state and the ancient kingdom of Kalinga.  It is adorned with 500 temples, which includes the Lingaraj Temple of Lord Siva.  The Buddhist influence is spread all over Bhubaneswar.  On the Dhauli Hills, where the great Kalinga war was fought stand a very modern monument world peace the ‘Viswa santi stupa’.  Rock-cut-caves are also seen on the hills of Khandagiri and Udaigiri.  The double stored ‘Rani gumpha’ (Queen’s cave) is the largest cave with ormate carvings.  While the temples and monuments are redolent of the culture of a hoary era, the vibrance of life throbs in the sprawling Nandan Kanan Zoological Park, which is famous for its white tiger and lion saphari.  The infamous pilgrim center Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath is situated within a close proximity of Bhubaneswar.  The famous sun temple of Konarak, the black pagoda is on the marine drive of Chandrabhaga.
